Who doesn’t love a good burger? Who doesn’t love a good wonton? Meet my 0sp Whole 30 compliant wonton chicken burgers. These taste like the filling in Trader Joe’s cilantro chicken wontons! This is another recipe that really elevates the “quick weeknight dinner”. I serve mine in a lettuce wrap with some siracha lime aioli or a smoked paprika aioli. They reheat really well and make a great meal prep item! This recipe can be easily adapted for the grill, by just grilling them instead.
Wonton Chicken Burgers
4 servings, 0sp per burger
1lb 98 or 99% lean ground chicken
1/8 oz dried shitake mushrooms, rehyrdated and finely chopped
1/4 C fresh cilantro, chopped
2 green onions, chopped
1TB coconut aminos or low sodium soy sauce
1/2 tsp fish sauce
1/4 tsp sesame oil
Salt and pepper to taste
1. Combine all ingredients in a bowl and mix with your hands until well combined. Don’t over work the meat!
2. Heat skillet with cooking oil or spray of choice over medium high. Form four burgers by hand and cook until they reach an internal temperature of 165*, flipping only once.
Dried shiitake mushrooms can be found in most grocery stores, but I have found the best prices at my local Asian market. Rehydrate them in warm water for 30 minutes then squeeze the excess water out with your hands and pat dry with a paper towel before chopping.
